DOGS/CATS UNDER 6 MONTHS: $115.00 DOGS/CATS 6 MONTHS AND OVER: $100.00 Adoption Features include: ~ Spay/Neuter ~ Vaccinations ~ Unconditional love from a wonderful animal ~ Satisfaction knowing you have given a second chance to another animal
(For a list of the veterinarians that are a part of our spay/neuter program, click here) QUESTIONS SOME PEOPLE HAVE ASKED.... DOES THE HUMANE SOCIETY CHARGE MORE IF THE ANIMAL IS A PUREBRED or REGISTERED? NO. Our adoption fees reflect our sincere belief that all of our adoptable animals are created equal and worthy of your love, attention and companionship. Being a purebred or a mixed breed has no bearing on determining their adoption fee.
Announcing a very exciting new policy! Neuter Before Adoption Becomes a Reality for Humane Society Animals
Thanks to a cooperative effort with local veterinarians, the Kokomo Humane Society will be able to guarantee that all adopted animals will be spayed or neutered before they go to their new home. Now, upon approval of the adoption application, the Kokomo Humane Society will make an appointment with the adopter’s chosen veterinarian. The Humane Society will transport the dog or cat to the vet, where the animal will be altered. After completion of the surgery, adopters may pick the animal up at the vet’s office. This will allow the veterinarian to meet and speak with the adopter. In the past, our adoption fee did not cover all veterinary fees associated with the spay-neuter surgery. Part of our new agreement with the veterinary community let us pay the cost of the anesthetic and spay or neuter procedure, pre- and post-operative analgesic, and overnight hospitalization. Your chosen veterinarian will let you know if there will be additional charges for health problems or necessary tests. Because we will need to pay more for veterinary services, we have posted new adoption fees. Adoption fees for adult dogs and cats will be $100; and puppies and kittens will be $115. This new process starts May 1. We look forward to the security of knowing that none of our adopted animals will contribute to the overwhelming pet overpopulation problem in Kokomo and Howard County by producing unwanted litters. Our thanks to our veterinary partners for their participation in this worthwhile venture.
